Frequently asked questions about industrial RFID & barcode scanners

The choice depends on the type of information you need to manage. 1D scanners are designed for traditional linear barcodes and are ideal for basic identification. However, if you need to store more data in less space or read codes from mobile device screens, a 2D or QR scanner is the right solution, as it enables omnidirectional scanning without having to align the scanner perfectly with the label.

If operators need to move within a short range of the base station, typically around 10 to 30 meters, Bluetooth is an efficient and easy-to-configure option. For large logistics centers or warehouses with high-bay racking, we recommend scanners with Wi-Fi connectivity or long-range radio frequency systems, which ensure that data is transmitted in real time without coverage interruptions as users move around the facility.

The IP rating indicates the device's resistance to dust and water. For office or retail environments, a lower IP rating is usually sufficient. However, if your operations take place in demanding industrial environments, outdoor loading areas, or cold storage facilities, it is essential to use devices with an IP65 rating or higher and drop-resistant sealing, ensuring a long service life despite intensive use.

No. These are different technologies. While barcodes require a direct line of sight, RFID technology uses radio waves to capture information. If you want to speed up large-scale inventory processes without scanning products one by one, you should choose an RFID reader, which can read hundreds of tags per second simultaneously.
