Over 60 Years of Innovation in Logistics Solutions
From humble beginnings in 1962 as a small family business in San Sebastián to becoming an international benchmark in technological solutions for industry and logistics, Tecnipesa has built a trajectory defined by innovation, customer proximity, and the ability to anticipate market shifts.
The Origin
On 26 September 1962, Mariano Bonet arrived in San Sebastián from Barcelona following severe flooding. The following day, he began his sales operations by bus in the Loyola district and closed his first sale of a machine delivered by taxi. In October, the firm Mobba provided him with a van to distribute weighing systems, platform scales, and shop scales, achieving rapid sales success in towns such as Irún. What began alongside his wife Elisa in a small premises on Calle Etxaide as a local business catering to grocery stores—selling 32 scales in a single day to the SECUC chain—soon expanded its sales force across the entire province.
Commitment to Industry
Detecting a strong demand within the industrial sector, the company ventured into introducing its weighing systems to the Basque industrial manufacturing sector. Success was immediate, achieving an average sales volume of 120 industrial scales annually for major corporations.
The Barcode Revolution
Attentive to emerging market demands, the 1990s marked a decisive strategic shift with the introduction of advanced machinery for automatic identification and barcode coding and marking. Following this milestone, Tecnipesa focused its efforts on delivering turnkey solutions and specialised maintenance technical services.
Deployment of New Technologies
Responding to market evolution, the company expanded its portfolio towards industrial mobility solutions, providing added value for emerging codes in industry, such as QR codes and RFID tags.
Opening in Mexico
Tecnipesa embraced the major challenge of expanding its operations by establishing its subsidiary in Mexico. Centring its strategy on expertise and a deep understanding of the operational realities of Latin American clients, the company successfully positioned itself as a benchmark in the local logistics market.
Tecnipesa's 60th Anniversary
Tecnipesa celebrated six decades of history, sustainable growth, and technical market leadership, having fully evolved from traditional weighing systems to complex Industry 4.0 applications.
Proprietary Manufacturing with Brave® and Connect
In April 2024, Tecnipesa marked a turning point in its trajectory by launching its first proprietary manufacturing and engineering products tailored to global Autonomous Logistics: the Brave® Smart RFID Portal and the advanced real-time traceability software, Connect. Designed as a turnkey, modular, unattended solution that integrates with any ERP or WMS, this disruptive technology revolutionised loading bays, access points, and inventory control, achieving up to a 99% reduction in human error and a 25% increase in truck loading speed. The launch was consolidated internationally with high-impact rollouts across both Spain and Mexico.

On 25 and 26 June 2025, Tecnipesa Mexico's central facilities in Querétaro had the privilege of hosting the joint Trade Mission organised by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa (Department of Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects) and the Guipúzcoa Chamber of Commerce.
